Alice M. Merritt, age 72 of Massillon, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at Amherst Meadows. Alice was born on February 12, 1940 in Massillon the daughter of the late Alex and Flossie (Johnston) Abraham. Alice lived in the area her entire life and was a 1958 graduate of Central Catholic High School. She enjoyed working on cross word puzzles, playing cards and watching Massillon football and all football in general. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Schoenfeld; four step-children, Gordy, Brian and Steven and Heather Merritt; and her step-granddaughter, Brianna Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Joel K. Merritt with whom she shared 39 years of marriage; her children, Richard Sanatore, Timothy S. (Carol) Sanatore, Lori (David) Kory and Rob E. Sanatore; her step-children, Joel (Laura) Merritt Jr., Greg Merritt, Cheryl (Greg) Taylor and Cyndi Merritt; 8 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren; and her sister, Florence (Norman) Porr. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
