Alice Marie Dolinger Knight
June 2, 1933 – April 23, 2011
Alice Marie Dolinger Knight, age 77, of Huntsville, AL, and most, recently, Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, surrounded by her family.
As a child, Alice grew up in Virginia graduating from Mt. Rogers High School, in White Top. Shortly after graduating from school, she moved to Washington D.C. and began a career with the telephone company. Alice met, and married, Tom while in Washington. Thus began her travels. While Tom served the country through the United States Army, Alice traveled the world, from France, Germany and Japan, to many places in the United States. Alice always enjoyed traveling and showing her growing family the many features of the world. Alice worked for Sears, Roebuck, & Co. for over 20 years. She was an avid member of the Willing Workers Sunday School class at Bethany Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL. She loved Bible studies, working jigsaw puzzles, and crocheting afghans. Alice touched many, many, babies, newlyweds, graduates, friends and strangers, through the stitches of an afghan. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Knight, Jr., her parents, Thomas and Stella Blevins Dolinger, and her brothers, Robert Dolinger and Bill Dolinger. Alice is survived by loving children, Pamela Knight Beard of Murfreesboro, TN, Thomas and his wife Teresa Knight, of Murfreesboro, TN, and Linda Knight and her husband Wade Gatlin, of Letts, Iowa. She is also survived by sisters Dortha Bowman of Hazel Green, AL, Gloria Liverette of Ocean City, MD, Ralph and his wife Linn Dolinger of Marion, VA, and Bela and her husband Frank Lo Bianco of Ocean City, MD. Alice was grandmother and “Dinky” to Rickey and his wife Becky Beard, Thomas Beard, Thomas Knight, Joseph Beard, Alyson Gatlin, Wesley Gatlin, and Danny Knight. She was great-grandmother to Aiden Beard, Jay-Ann Beard, and Kieran Beard. She loved her family dearly.

The family will honor Alice at a viewing on Tuesday 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Valhalla Funeral Home 698 Winchester Road, Huntsville, AL. The funeral service will be officiated by Bro. Monroe Baker and will occur on Wednesday at 11:00 am., At Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel.
