Almae Cahoon Brickhouse, 89, of the 3100 block of Cedarville Rd., Chesapeake, VA, passed away September 14, 2011, in her home with her children by her side. A native of Norfolk County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Grover W. and Josephine S. Cahoon, and the widow of Albert L. Brickhouse. She is survived by her four children, Joyce Dilday of Portsmouth, VA, Dallas Brickhouse and wife Ruth of Chesapeake, VA, son-in-law, Roger L. Newbert of Chesapeake, VA, Alton Brickhouse and wife Carol of Moyock, NC and Debbie S. Paul of Chesapeake, VA; two sisters, Mary E. Dozier of Elizabeth City, NC and Dorothy Dixon of Chesapeake, VA; two brothers, Joe Cahoon of Chesapeake, VA and Gene Cahoon of South Carolina; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren including her baby Isabel Dilday. She was predeceased by her son, Frank Brickhouse; her daughter, Gladys B. Newbert; two sons-in-law, Joseph Dilday, Sr. and Rev. Danny L. Paul; and a grandson, Jamie L. Brickhouse. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel with Rev. Donald O'Dey officiating. The burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
