BLACK, Alta M. 85, of Clearwater passed away January 24, 2012.

Alta was born May 28, 1926 to John Clinton and Luria Ellen Tobin in Tampa. A true Florida Native, she moved from Tampa to Pinellas County as a young girl and attended Largo High School. As a teenager in 1943, she attended a USO dance where she met the love of her life, Francis S. Black. The two were married shortly thereafter on June 8, 1943.

Alta is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Francis, and son, Tracy Black. She is survived by her children Steve (Judy) Black, Danny (Barbara) Black, Janet (Gary) Sica, Brenda (Ray) Stevens, Dana Allen, Gayle (Pete) Howdeshell, and Pat (Mark) Erickson; daughter-in-law DeeDee Black; sister, Sarah Wells; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3pm at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home with services beginning at 3pm on Friday January 27th.
