Alta Mae Tidey , 92, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away, Friday, February 25, 2011 at her residence in La Porte, IN. She was born September 26, 1918 in Walkerton, Indiana, the daughter of Charles Pointon and Laura (Barnes) Pointon. On October 29, 1938, in Mill Creek, IN, she married Jack A. Tidey who preceded in death. She is survived by her four sons - Jack (Vella) Pointon, Rodger (Dianne) Tidey, Rick Tidey, and Kevin Tidey all of La Porte; eight daughters - Wilma Christiansen of La Porte, Elaine (Bill ) Perry of Salyersville, KY, Karen Searing of La Porte, Dorothy Chlebowski of La Porte, Eva Brown of Salyersville, KY, Merlyn Jones of La Porte, Celeste Galloway of La Porte, Vicki (Steve ) Marcum of La Porte; one sister - Martha Messman of Plymouth, IN; and numerous grandchildren, great-grand children, and great-great grand children. Alta was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one daughter - Judith Blake; two sons - Randy and Allen Tidey. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Monday, February 28, 2011 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Tuesday, March 01, 2011 from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Dan McDonald officiating. Cremation will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 601 West Edison Road Mishawaka, IN 46545.
