Andrew (Andy) Johnson

Andrew (Andy) Johnson, 93, passed away peacefully on Oct. 5, 2009 surrounded by his family. He was born in Tabiona, Utah, a son of John L and Lillian Waddell Johnson on Feb. 15, 1916. Andy was raised in Tabiona and spent his childhood on the family farm. Later he worked with his dad and brothers running the family saw mills. He married Glenna Curry on June 14, 1941 in Hanna, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1957 he began his career working for the U. S. Forest Service until his retirement 22 years later. He oversaw the development work for Cascade Springs as well as the water shed terrace work in the mountains surrounding Utah Valley. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings including ward clerk for six bishoprics. Andrew enjoyed spending time in his shop and had a keen sense of humor. He enjoyed teasing those he loved. He was a hard worker, and his family was his life.

Andrew is survived by his wife of 68 years, Glenna, his children, Glenda (Blaine) Carter and John (Candyce) Johnson both of Orem, Julie (Val) Berrett of North Ogden, Shelly Slaughter of Bluffdale, 18 Grandchildren, and 21 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Lamar, Ronald, Wallace, Olaus, Sylvan; his sister, Lila, and a grandson.

The family would like to thank Sheila, Marleen, Barbara and others from A-Plus Home Care for their loving attention given to Andrew in the past few months.
