Andy is survived by his wife Joyce; his children, Sally Alexander of Michigan, and her children, Christina, David, and Jon; Drew (Adriana) Sorenson of Jefferson, and their children, A.J., Lisa, and Tollef; Tim (Tammy) Sorenson of Bettendorf, and their children, Joshua, Anna, and Leah; Mark Sorenson of Des Moines; Suzanne (Tim) Fink of Humboldt, and their children, Chris (Chrissie), Elizabeth (Eli), Maria, and Meg; and Daniel Sorenson of South Dakota; his sister Joan (Don) Eldal of Moorland.




He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Martin and Inger Louise Lowry Sorenson; sisters, Morella Sorenson, Gladys (Vernon) Telleen, Mary (Jerry) Patton, and Margaret (J.B.) Telleen; brothers, Alvin (Bethel) Sorenson, and Chester (Chloris) Sorenson.




Andrew Lowry Sorenson was born Dec. 17, 1926 on a farm near Somers. He was baptized and confirmed at Fulton Lutheran Church, Roelyn. He attended country school and Somers High School. Andy served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1947. He attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. On July 17, 1949 he was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Bilstad at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Callender. The couple made their home on a farm near Roelyn. Andy attended Ft. Dodge Junior College, where he studied animal science and farm management. In 1960, they moved to Ringsted, where he was a salesman for Walnut Grove. In 1964, they established their home in Jefferson, where Andy was a manager for M&M Livestock Feed Co. He later owned and operated Sorenson's Agri-Service, and then Sorenson's Old Cars.




Andy fulfilled a lifetime dream by obtaining his pilot's license and helped transport OMS Missionaries to their speaking engagements throughout the Midwest. Andy was a member of the Lutheran Church for 76 years, before becoming a member of the First Assembly of God, Jefferson. Andy had a deep love for his Lord and God's Word.
