Biography Chet Castanon joined his ancestors and his God October 30, 2009. Chet Castanon, died October 30, 2009 at home with his two daughters Sandy and Linda and son Vince at his side he was 88, he died peacefully, dad was known as a very good fisherman in his day, he was a member of the St. Gertrude Parrish for many years and was part of the Cursillo Movement back in 1962, he also was a layman at his church. Chet worked at Daniel Webster Jr. High School for 30 years starting off as a Gardner and ending up as head custodian. Chet was preceded in death by his parents Epitacio and Juanita Castanon both of Mexico his loving wife Dolores Castanon, brother Rito Castanon and his sister Annie Valdivia and grandson Johnny Gray, and his second wife Helene who passed in 2004, he is survived by his children, Vincent R. and wife Jodi Castanon of Stockton, Sandra Castanon-Carlos and husband Art of San Diego, CA. Erlinda Castanon –Long and husband Tom of Vancouver Island Canada, siblings Felix Castanon, Tony Castanon, Peter Castanon, Joe Castanon and Mary Gutierrez all of Stockton, seven grandchildren, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.


A Vigil service will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California Street, on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 6:00pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Gertrude’s Church, 1663 E. Main Street, on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 1:00pm.

Visitation will be held the chapel on Tuesday, noon-7:00pm, Wednesday, 9:00am-6:00pm and Thursday 9:00 am to12:30pm.
