Anita "Carol" Brown was born January 24, 1961 in St. Louis, Missouri to Almertis Brown and John Banks. She was the second eldest of four children. She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Samuel "Danny" Brown and Vundre' Brown. She was educated in St. Louis City public schools and confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. She made her permanent home in Springfield, Illinois. Carol was a free-spirited individual with a warm smile and personality which left a lasting impression on whomever she met. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Some of her favorite past time activities included watching movies and playing word games. Like many that migrate from St. Louis, Carol had to have her "White Castles" while visiting. She faced constant health battles throughout her life, yet remained extraordinarily strong and always maintained her playful nature and positive attitude. She departed this life on December 16, 2011. Carol is survived by: her mother, Almertis Brown; grandmother, Marie Sharp; sister, Monita "Kaye" Sowell (Kenneth); nephew, Antwain Smith (Desola); two nieces, Monique Smith and Briana Sowell; two uncles, Ned Barnard, and Jimmy Barnard (Chris); two aunts, Dorothy Barnard and Joann Davis; a great nephew and niece and a host of cousins and friends.
