Anna Fay West, 101, of Columbia and Sarasota, Florida, surrounded by loved ones, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Mrs. West was born in Etna, North Carolina, January 13, 1911, daughter of Reverend Benjamin Sharpe West and Viola Edwards West. She married the love of her life, Guy Buford West, on December 18, 1935. They resided in Swannanoa and Asheville, NC before moving to Sarasota in 1963. In Swannanoa they were members of the Swannanoa Baptist Church where Fay's father was minister for several years. They retired from Beacon Manufacturing Company and were active in Chapter 132, Order of the Eastern Star. After moving to Sarasota, Fay was a member of the Golden City Women's Club. and Eastern Star. Fay was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, brothers, J. B. West of Newberry, SC and Robin L. West of Franklin, NC, sisters, Mrs. James C. Harrison of Columbia, Mrs. Stephen Harrison of Mississippi and nephews RC West and Bunny West of Newberry. Surviving are Mrs. Robin L. (Elizabeth) West, sister-in-law, Franklin, N.C. and the following nieces and nephews. James C. Harrison, Jr. (Elizabeth) and Elaine H. Gamble, of Columbia, Patricia A. Campbell (John Ray), of Lexington, Carol H. Bodie (Wayne), of Gilbert, Benjamin S. Harrison (Glenda), Cheryl H. Wade, Gerald Harrison, Kay H. Benge, all of Mississippi, Diana West Rogers (Rick), Nadine McFarland of Franklin, N.C. , Billye Lee West (Peggie), Robin Moore West (Diane) all of Newberry, SC. and Ann S. Lowe (Brian) of Piedmont, S. C. She was survived by many great nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted by Senior Pastor, Steve Rayburn, Swannanoa First Baptist Church at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 23, 2012, at Greenhill Cemetery, Azalea Hills Section, 25 New Leicester Hwy, Asheville, N.C. 28806. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Agape Senior Foundation, 1053 Center Street, West Columbia, S.C. 29169. The family gives their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff and caregivers of Agape At Kathwood in Columbia and especially the Hospice nurses and caregivers. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.
