ANNA JEWELL SMITH, age 78, Cynthiana, died Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. Born in Stonega, Virginia, March 10, 1933, to the late Hobert and Belle Bowers, she was a homemaker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Garnett Fryman; her second husband, Andy Smith; three brothers, Alton Bowers, Norman Bowers and Gerald Bowers and a sister, Arnetta Blevins. She is survived by a son, Michael Fryman, Cynthiana; a daughter, Norma Shadwick, Wilmore; three brothers, Burnice Bowers, Gate City, Tennessee, Rheabon Bowers, Virginia Beach, Virginia and Hobert Bowers, Jr., Big Stone, Virginia; three sisters, Lena Rue Mullins, Appalachia, Virginia, Glenda Lang, Cynthiana and Violet Bledsoe, Big Stone, Virginia and two grandsons, Layne Fryman and Matthew Brewer. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Wayne Tolson. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery.
