Anna Lois Stephens died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Lakeview Lutheran Manor in Cadillac. She was 82. She was born March 17, 1923 in Yarbo, Ark., the daughter of Allen and Ethel (Wilson) Nelson. She married Leo P. Stephens. He preceded her in death in 1963. In 1952, the Stephens moved to Cadillac from Blytheville, Ark. Mrs. Stephens was employed for 13 years at Mercy Hospital until her retirement in 1985. Mrs. Stephens was a member of Salvation Army, past member of Twin Lake Rebecca Lodge No. 198 and past member of Moose Lodge. She was an avid fan of professional baseball. She was a mother, friend, confidante, guide, caregiver to all of her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her son, Charles (Deborah) Lindsey of McBain; daughters, Samantha (Donald) Dassance of Texas, Karla Stephens of Mancelona and Angie (Bud) Smith of Pennsylvania; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Leo, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Cecil Nelson in 1998. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home in Cadillac with Captain Jeremiah Burris officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 4, and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
