Mrs. Anna M. (Harrington) McCarthy, age 82, of Western Ave., formerly of Revere and Charlestown, died Tuesday October 21, 2003 at her home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. “Red” McCarthy.
Born and raised in Charlestown, she was the daughter of the late James and Anastasia (Lee) Harrington. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, Revere. She had lived in Revere for the majority of her life.
She had worked for many years at the Social Security Administration Office in Chelsea.

She had also worked in the Insurance Industry for Fairfield and Ellis, O’Brion Russell, Wendall Burman, and Petkin Feingold, as well as at the Boston Naval Shipyard and the Chelsea Naval Hospital. She had participated in some of the programs at GLSS and was a member of Al-Anon of Revere.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law James and Kathy McCarthy, of Lynn, 1 sister Mary O’Brien, of Duxbury, 1 brother Thomas Harrington, of Charlestown, 2 grandchildren Kaitlyn, and Molly McCarthy, both of Lynn, and many nieces and nephews including Elizabeth Symanski, of Revere. She was also the sister of the late Michael, William, James and Joseph Harrington, and Eileen Moore, and Sr. Mary Michael CSJ.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday October 25, 2003 at 8am from the Solimine Landergan and Richardson Funeral Home 426 Broadway (RTE129) followed by a Funeral Mass at 9am in St. Pius V Church, Lynn. Cremation will follow at Harmony Grove Crematory, Salem. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery on Saturday November 1, 2003 at 11am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 2-4 & 7-9. Those who prefer may make donations to Hospice of the North Shore 10 Elm Street Danvers, MA 01923.
