Annabel "Ann" Broeckel, 84, Bismarck, died October 3, 2003, at a Bismarck hospital after a short illness.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Bismarck with the Rev. Kermit Culver officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 - 5 PM at Boelter-Eastgate Funeral Service, 200 W. Turnpike Ave., Bismarck.
Ann was born on February 23, 1919, in Underwood, North Dakota, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Keel) Fischer. She was raised in Turtle Lake, North Dakota, where she attended schools. Ann married Herbert Broeckel on February 28, 1937, at Turtle Lake. Together they worked and raised their family in Mandan-Bismarck.
She enjoyed a special, loving relationship with her husband, Herb, her children, and her grandchildren. Herb preceded Ann in death in 1981. Ann devoted the rest of her life as the true, loving leader and provider of wisdom for her family.
Ann's professional career was with J.C. Penney in Bismarck, retiring as Personnel Manager in 1972.
She is survived by her four children, Gene (Ann) Broeckel of Chico, California, Dick (Jan) of Broeckel of Phoenix, Arizona, Cheryl (Roy) Doerr of Minot, North Dakota, and Joan (Terry) Brosseau of Bismarck; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Vi (Lloyd) Houstman of Bismarck, Joyce Hieb of Bismarck, June Thorson of Gainsville, Virginia, and Jean (Dale) Coleman of Baldwin; and one brother, Frank (Marvel) Fischer of Jamestown.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband, Herb.
