Annie Laura Goodman, 90, peacefully went to be with Jesus on Sat., Dec. 9, in Carrollton, Texas. A longtime Lubbock resident, Annie Laura was born in Quay County, New Mexico on April 28, 1916 to Farris Emerson Davis and Maggie Ola Harrell. In 1932, her family moved to Lubbock from Portales, New Mexico and she was a resident of Lubbock until May 2001. She married Wayne Alvin Goodman May 22, 1936 in Lubbock. They had two sons: Ronald and Gary, and were married nearly 35 years when he died on March 7, 1971. She was married to Dalph Pounds from 1975 until his death in 1985.
Annie Laura was employed at Dunlap’s Department Store and Anderson Brothers Jewelers. She was a long time member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Lubbock. She was a beloved mother and grandmother; and an excellent cook and homemaker. Her hobby was collecting ruby glass and artwork.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, and her brothers, Rev. Harold C. Davis, Jim Davis, and Rayond Davis. She is survived by, sons: Ronald Goodman of Carrollton, TX and Gary Goodman of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Shannon Sharker of McKinney, TX, Steven Goodman of Hurst, TX, and Bradley Goodman of Dallas, TX; great grandchildren Joseph and Victoria Sharker; sisters: Ola Mae Noland of Lubbock and Evelyn Rieger of Lubbock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are being conducted by Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 6 to 8 pm. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday at 2 pm at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
