Annie Merle Hatfield, 64, passed away August 2, 2009, in her home. She was born in Wayne County, NC and the widow of Randall J. Hatfield. She is survived by two daughters, Randi L. Hatfield of Durham, NC and Rhonda D. Russell and husband Christopher of Chesapeake, VA; two sons, Scott T. Opie and wife Karen of Chesapeake, VA and Aaron J. Hatfield and wife Deanna of Shawboro, NC; two sisters, Margaret Solomon of Virginia Beach, VA and Maxine Vollmer of Portsmouth, VA; brother, Leonard White of Chesapeake, VA; nine grandchildren; two aunts, Ernestine Daves of Dover, TN and Ada Taylor of Norfolk, VA; and an uncle, Richard Hinson of Goldsboro, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Hazel White; and brother, Willie A. White. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at 11 a.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel by Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood with burial in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
