Mother Arleater Warren was born on April 10, 1921 in Baldwyn, Mississippi to Minnie Calomese and William Johnson. Her mother bore her early in age, which left her grandparents playing an integral role in her upbringing. Rooted in Christianity, her grandparents instilled many Christian values that ultimately shaped Arleater into the woman she is today. Mother Warren loved to praise the Lord, even as a youth. At the age of 12, Arleater joined Springhill Baptist Church where she began her work for the Lord. Arleater fell in love and married Eddie L. Warren on March 1, 1941 in a minister's home in Baldwyn, Mississippi for 69 YEARS OF MARRIAGE and to this union three sons were born, Dennis, Eddie Jr., and Alvin. Mother Warren always stated... "They (Dennis, Eddie Jr., and Alvin) are the most important part of my life." Arleater Warren When the Warrens moved to St. Louis, Mrs. Warren voiced that she worked as a private duty nurse, did private housekeeping services in the areas of Clayton and Ladue, and then she went to St. Mary's hospital as a housekeeper. She joined Pilgrim Church in East St. Louis and then moved her membership to New Northside Missionary Baptist Church where she continued to serve the Lord and joined several auxiliaries: Member of W.J. Ellis Morning Gospel Choir Children's State Pageant, Chair (1997 & 1998) Originator of "100 Women in Red" presented by New Northside Missionary Society Regular attendee of Midweek Bible Study Delegate to the Berean District, State and National Congress of Christian Education Queen of New Northside Baptist Church (1969) Youth & Young Adult Choir, Supervisor (1975-1979) Mother of the Year - New Northside Missionary Baptist Church (1984-1998) Member of the Year - New Northside Missionary Baptist Church (1986) Letter of Recognition for Outstanding Service - St. Mary's Hospital (1987) President of Pastor's Aid (1964-1972) Deaconess Board, Member Missionary Society, Member Mother's Board, Member Sunday School Department, Member Mother Arleater Warren was honored in May 2011 as "Mother of the Year" from The Complex Church, Abilene, TX Mother Warren's favorite scripture was Psalm 23 and favorite song , "Precious Lord". "Always Pray", Mother Warren would say, "and ask the Lord for understanding and more importantly, wisdom!" Mother Warren strongly believed that the LORD hears and answers sincere prayers. She would always say, "don't play with the Lord!" Mother Warren transitioned to her LORD on Friday, December 2, 2011. Her parents, her only sister, Sis. Lizzie "Marie" Starks (Lawrence) and her devoted husband, Deacon Eddie L. Warren, Sr. preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn: three wonderful sons, Dennis Warren (Susan) of Quincy, IL, Bishop Eddie L. Warren, Jr. (Ella) of Quincy, IL and Alvin Warren (Sheron) of Abilene, Texas. Grandchildren: Jessica and Shelby Warren, Eddie Cardell Gaston (Sabrina), Valecia, Malessa, and Roderick Warren (Aushena), Alvin Warren, Jr. (Marianna), and Jonathan Warren. Great-grandchildren: Daelan, Braelon, Audrick, Kingston Warren; Chance, Essence and Bishop Gaston; Alvin Warren III, Arianna Nicole and Washington Blake Warren. God-children, Karen Harvey and the late Kenneth Harvey, Sr. and their son, Kenneth Harvey, Jr. Mother Warren's beloved sister-in-law, Joyce McCoo and her late husband, Mr. Fred McCoo. Mother Warren's niece, Farrie Ward (Larry) and her nephew, Larry Starks along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
