JANESVILLE--- Arlis M. Roach, age 61, of Janesville, died unexpectedly Friday, July 6, 2012, in Jefferson. She was born at home in Sharon, WI on Jan. 21, 1951, the daughter of Oscar and Elizabeth (Liptow) Walther. Arlis had been employed as a nurse's aide for Countryside Nursing Home (now named Alden Estates) for the past 15 years. She was an avid reader, a splendid cook, a fierce card player, a storyteller of rare dry wit, a dedicated caregiver, and above all a devoted and loving mother. Survivors include her 2 sons, Caleb (Jennifer) Roach of Milwaukee and Daniel Roach (sons of Tom Roach) of Janesville; a sister, Sandra Lowman of Janesville; a brother, Gordon (Helen) Walther of Burlington; and two cats, Luke and Lucy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers: Oscar, Richard, Herbert, Jimmy and Victor Walther; and 5 sisters: Gloria Walther, Barbara Weber, Mickey Brown, Shirley Poach, and Carol Riemer. A Celebration of Her Life will take place on Friday, July 13, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, Janesville. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Rock County Humane Society, in the spirit of Arlis's love for her furry friends.
