On February 22, 1938, Arnold was united in marriage to Evelyn Christensen at the church parsonage in Wallingford. After their marriage, the couple made their home south of Gruver on a farm. Arnold and Evelyn lived on that same farm for sixty-nine years where they farmed and raised their family. He also worked for the ASCS office measuring farm ground. Arnold always enjoyed doing carpentry work and even after his retirement from active farming, he continued doing carpentry work until 1985. He built many homes for people in the area. One of Arnold's greatest pleasures in life was spending time visiting with family and friends.

Arnold was a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Gruver, where he was a member for ninety-three years. He taught Sunday school and was a member of the church council for many years. Arnold helped in the construction of the buildings at the Ingham Lake Bible Camp.

SAFELY HOME

I am home in heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in heaven at last.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth
You shall rest in God's own land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
