Art L. Alden, 87, formerly of Liberty, Missouri, passed away August 20, 2011. Art had been a truck driver for over 45 years, before his retirement. He had worked for the Cin-Cor Merchandising Company. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to the Liberty area in 1960. He married his first wife, Marie Upah in Omaha, in 1938. Marie preceded him in death in 1994. He later married his second wife, Jo Silvius, in 1997 and she preceded him in death in 2009. Art was an absolute animal lover, especially dogs and never met a dog he couldn’t reach out and pet. He is a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy and was member fo the Liberty VFW Post #4043. Survivors include his son and his wife, Dale and Tracy Alden of Shawnee, Kansas; his daughter and her husband, Diane and Ron Lee of Kansas City, Kansas; grandchildren: Ryan Alden, Cathy Sharpnack, Christine Alden, Matthew Alden, Amanda Showalter, and Daytin Lester; also, 6 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in lieu of flowers.
