Arthur Edward Dragon, age 70, passed away on Thursday evening, January 26, 2012 at Touro Infirmary, New Orleans, LA. A native and lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. Mr. Dragon attended Tulane University and graduated from Louisiana State University. He recently retired after 41 years of dedicated service as an Investment Advisor and Registered Principal of LPL Financial. Mr. Dragon was a member of Metairie Country Club, Southern Yacht Club, Pickwick Club, Chaine des Rotisseurs, Delta Tau Delta, and various Carnival organizations. Eddie supported many community organizations including the New Orleans Symphony and New Orleans Ballet. Eddie was an avid sailor, gardener, sport fisherman, backpacker, canoeist, cyclist, world traveler, amateur ichthyologist, and large dog enthusiast. He was happiest when spending time with his nieces and nephews and their children - attending plays, sporting events, community activities and family vacations. He will be remembered most for his warmth, generosity, and hospitality.
Mr. Dragon is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Culver Dragon, his sister, Guella Karion Dragon, sister-in-law Betsy C. Jahncke and brother-in-law, John Allan "Jac" Culver, Sr. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews: M. Elizabeth J. Felthun (Luke), Helen J. Bartlett (Chad), John A. Culver, Jr (Heather), and Justin M. Culver (Leslie), and nine great nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to visitation and a celebration service on Monday, January 30, 2012 from 1 to 3:00 p.m. at Longue Vue Gardens, 7 Bamboo Road followed by a graveside service with internment at 3:30 p.m. at Hope Mausoleum, 4841 Canal Street. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Friends of City Park, the Louisiana SPCA or to the Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium.
