Arthur Herman Spikes was born July 24, 1941 in Jasper, Texas to Julius Ezekiel Spikes and Elizabeth Tompkins. The family moved to Colorado in 1947. Herman attended school in Colorado and graduated from Manual High School. He worked several jobs before he found his calling as a Butcher. An ancient trade, Herman worked as a Certified Master Butcher in the packing house until his retirement. Herman found love in the 1980's with a lifetime friend Lovey Joy Simmons. He never had any biological children. However, the void was filled with his stepson DeLani Simmons. Herman is survived by his loving, devoted wife Lovey Joy Spikes, his stepson, DeLani (Noel) Simmons both of Aurora, CO; four brothers: Harry (Debbie Cutler) Spikes of Denver, CO, Warren Spikes of LA, CA, Sherman Spikes of Houston, TX and Raymond Runnels of Houston, TX; two sisters: Sherri Rankin of Houston, TX and Bernice Runnels of Galveston, TX; the Rankin's, a bundle of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends.
