Arthur James "Jim" Martin, 74, of Loop Rd. South Mountain, PA, died at 11:20 P.M. on Friday, January 25, 2013 in the Waynesboro Hospital following a brief illness. Born December 23, 1938 in South Mountain, he was the son of the late James Edward Martin and Evaline G. (Kauffman) Martin. He married Roberta F. (Flora) Martin on March 3rd, 1998. He was retired from Waynesboro Design. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 5 years. He was a member of the Order of the Owls Nest 1073, Owls Club Inc., Eagles Club Inc., South Mountain Fire Hall and a life-time member of South Mountain Fish & Game. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James E. Martin of South Mountain, a daughter, Melody Fisher and numerous nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and a close friend, Doris Vandenberg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Burman Martin and sisters: Isabella Stites, Bernadine Verdier, Myrtle Bittinger and Pansy Carbaugh. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. Waynesboro, PA with Pastor David Rawley officiating. Burial will follow in Strang Cemetery, South Mountain, PA, with graveside military honors being conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M.to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 29th in the funeral home, and again one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Franklin & Fulton Co.
