Arturo Ramos October 10, 1923 - April 14, 2012 Arturo Ramos, 88, of Waco, TX, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Gonzalo Ferrer as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. and Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, at Brazos Funeral Home. Arturo was born October 10, 1923, in Laredo, to Eloy Ramos, Sr., and Victoria (Flores) Ramos. He retired from the VA in 1974, after 30 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, from 1939 to 1945, as a rifleman in the 2nd Infantry. He was in the Normandy and North France Campaigns. He was awarded one overseas service bar, one European – African Middle Eastern Theater Medal with Arrowhead, with two Bronze service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal and Purple Heart with an Oakleaf Cluster. He married Jessie Martinez on August 12, 1944. They celebrated 61 years of marriage, before her passing in June 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jessie M. Ramos; son, Arthur, Jr.; an infant brother; siblings, Eloy, Hector, Juan and Dora; and brothers-in-law, Rudy, Manuel, Trini and Henry Martinez. He is survived by his daughter, Frances Bravo and husband, Joe, and their children, Joe Henry Davila and his children, Ashley, Allison and Michael, Rolando Davila and wife, Beth, and their children, Rolando Jr. and Rece; son, Frank Ramos and wife, Isabel, and their daughter, Elizabeth Pratt and husband, David, and their children, Tristan and Regan; son, Manuel Ramos and his son, Stephen Ramos and wife, Beth, and their children, Lilla and Luke; daughter, Gilda Tafolla and husband, Omar, and their children, Stephen, Brandee and Omar Anthony; son, Gilbert Ramos and wife, Elizabeth, their children, Jessica Ramos and Emilio Mendoza, their child, Jeslyn Francine, John Arthur and Gilbert, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Alice Rodriquez and her children, Stephanie Ramos and her children, Victoria and Frances, Elaine Botello and husband, Jesse, their children, Jesse, Marlayna, and Marissa; also, he is survived by his sisters, Luz Villareal and Victoria Ramos; his wife's family, Helen Martinez, Vangie Martinez, Rose and Frank Carrizales, Mary and Steve Hurtado, Gloria and Bob McGlasson, Lyn and Rudy Garcia, Freddie and Belinda Martinez, Felix and Cecelia Martinez and their families. Honorary Pallbearers are his Army brothers of the 2nd Infantry. Pallbearers are Stevie Hurtado, David Pratt, Stephen Gomez, Joe Henry Davila, Jacob Martinez, Roland Davila, Jr., Stephen Tafolla, John Arthur Ramos and Gilbert Ramos, Jr. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
