Attorney Albert Bedway Mackarey, of Scranton died Wednesday peacefully in his sleep. He was the widower of the late Margaret (Nan) Scanlon Mackarey who died in June of 2004. Born in Scranton son of the late Bedway and Montura Mowad Mackarey, he was a member of St. Ann Maronite Church, Scranton, where he was a member of its Holy Name Society and a former member of its Church Council. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School, the University of Scranton and received a Law Degree from the Columbus School of Law of Catholic University, Washington, DC. He practiced law and served as solicitor for the City of Scranton and for Lackawanna County where he did legal work for COLTS and Child and Youth Services. He was a member of the Lackawanna County Bar Association and a Past President of the Sacred Heart Cemetery Board Association. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and his greatest love was spending time with his family. Surviving are three sons: Albert and wife Jill, Archbald; Richard and wife Antonella, Scranton; John and wife Paula, Scranton. A daughter Nancy and husband Micah Friedman, Scranton. Five grandchildren; A.J., Lily and Madeleine Mackarey and Lauren and Ari Friedman. Two brothers; Michael and Paul, both of Scranton. He is also survived by his close friend who was like a brother, Adeeb Hazzouri and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Peter, George and John and a sister Catherine Mowad. The Funeral will be Saturday with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Maronite Church, N. Sumner Ave., West Scranton to be celebrated by the Very Rev. Francis J. Marini, Pastor and concelebrated by Rev. Alex J. Hazzouri. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Scranton. Visitors may call Friday 4-8 p.m. at the Kearney Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St. Scranton. Incense service at 7:30 p.m. Those attending the funeral on Saturday are asked to go directly to the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ann Maronite Church Building Fund, C/O 1320 Price St. Scranton, PA 18504.
