AUDREY BERMAN ENGLISH (AGE 82)
Passed away on December 7, 2011. Audrey lived with her husband, Allan Jackson English, in Annapolis, MD.
Born 20 April 1929 in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of Victor and Ruth Berman. She graduated from Centenary College and worked in her father's chemical company for a time. As a young woman, Audrey was very active in a number of non-profit and social organizations in North Jersey and the Jersey Shore.
Audrey married MAJ Allan J. English on 10 November 1963 and lived a very active life as an Army wife until Allan retired from active duty in 1979 as a COL. During her years in Annapolis, Audrey was deeply involved in sponsoring Naval Academy midshipmen, and doing volunteer work for Historic Annapolis, Inc., The Annapolis Symphony, and the Annapolis Opera. She was a great hostess and had many close friends in the Annapolis area. She enjoyed foreign travel with her husband, and together they visited over 100 countries. Audrey was a very talented photographer who enjoyed documenting her travels in pictures.
Audrey is survived by her husband, Allan J. English; her nephew, Victor D. Mullen; her grandnephew, Evan Mullen; her grandniece, Emily Mullen; her nieces, Joanne Mullen and Audrey H. Mullen; her stepdaughter, Katharine J. English; and her son-in-law, Paul S. Wood.
There will be a visitation at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Annapolis, on Monday, 12 December, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake (http://www.hospicechesapeake.org/ ). Internment at Arlington National Cemetery will be at a later date.
