August E. Mendat, age 76 was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline (nee Horvath) whom he married in Christ Luthern Church in Cleveland on November 25, 1959. He was the loving father of Laura Gaertner, Douglas Mendat, and Anita Cabacar (Ray) of MD. Grandfather of Elizabeth, Christopher and Matthew Gaertner, Hayley and Andrew Cabacar; brother of Rosemarie Flynn (William). Mr. Mendat was raised in Cleveland, graduated from West Tech High School and attended Fenn College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a long time employee of Cleveland Twist Drill. His outside interested included being a member in the Cleveland Jaycees, participating in the Senior Olumpics and delivering Meals on Wheels. August passed away Wednesday November 23, 2011. Funeral Service will be at 1:00pm on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church 2031 W. 30th Street, Cleveland, OH 44109. Interment Lutheran Cemetery.
