Middleburgh – Barbara A. Powell, 60, of Mill Valley Road, died Saturday, December 31, 2011 unexpectedly at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville.

Born October 3, 1951 in Potsdam, NY, she was a daughter of Robert and Adele (La Point) Powell.

Barbara had been employed as a packer at Stiefel Laboratories in Oak Hill for several years. She was an avid fisherwoman, NASCAR fan, and enjoyed playing cards.

Barbara was predeceased by two children, Corey Schrom and Shawn Powell.

Survivors include her three children: Brian Powell of Fort Plain, Charles Schrom of Schoharie and Jeramie Schrom of Ephratah; five grandchildren; eight siblings: Robin Aldrich of Cobleskill, Anna German of Middleburgh, Christal Powell of Schenectady, Robert Powell, Jr. of Delanson, Scott Powell of St. Johnsville, Mark Powell of Connecticut, Greg Powell of Schenectady, and Chris Powell of Germantown, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY. A period of visitation will be held from 2-3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh and Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
