Barbara Ann Cropp, 86, of Shoals, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 10:02 a.m. Monday, December 26, 2011 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. Barbara was born February 5, 1925 in Loogootee, Indiana to Joseph and Doris (Smith) Patterson. She married the love of her life, George M. Cropp on August 27, 1949 at St. John's Rectory in Loogootee. Upon graduation from St. John's High School Class of 1943, she attended Indiana State University. She then moved to New York City to study voice and piano. While in New York she was employed by J. Walter Thompson in the heart of the advertising district. She then returned to Martin County where she taught vocal and piano to many students. Barbara was an accomplished musician and enjoyed painting still life. She enjoyed traveling with her husband George and until her health failed, spent her winters in Palm Desert, California. A member of Loogootee St. John's Catholic Church, she attended St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shoals. She is missed by her husband, George, of Shoals Brothers Donald Patterson of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; Raymond Patterson of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Churdch in Shoals, with entombment following at Goodwill Cemetery in Loogootee. There will be no visitation.
