Barbara A. Olivier, 81, of Gwinn, passed away Wednesday morning, July 6, 2011 at the Norlite Nursing Center in Marquette with her loving family at her side and in the care of Lake Superior Hospice. Barb was born on April 4, 1930 in Negaunee, a daughter of the late Gordon and Leda (Faust) Vinge, Sr. and was a lifelong area resident. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Paul Catholic High School in Negaunee. In her free time Barb enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting and reading. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Gwinn. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, James A. Olivier whom she married on August 28, 1948 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Negaunee; 7 children, Patrice (Stephen) Wilson of Fairview, NC, Scott (Vicki) Olivier of Carrollton, TX, Brett (JoAnn) Olivier of Negaunee, Tracee (John) Horn of Gwinn, M'Liss Olivier of Key West, FL, Leslee (Cal) Michell of Kent City, MI and Lori (Chuck) Edwards of San Antonio, TX; 2 sisters, Maxine (John) Nelson of Marquette and Carol Tameris of Clarksville, IN; also 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents were twin daughters at birth; one brother, Gordon Vinge, Jr. and a brother-in-law, Rev. Charles E. Olivier. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11th from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 12 noon in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gwinn with the Rev. John Boyle officiating. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette. Pallbearers will be Jim Olivier, John Horn, Mitch Gregg and Cal Michell.
