Newfane – Barbara C. Wilson, 83, of Old Stage Road, died Tuesday afternoon, August 23, 2011, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH from complications due to a recent surgery. A lifelong resident of the West River Valley, she was born in Jamaica on March 31, 1928, the daughter of Charles and Alice (Knight) Clark. She was raised and educated in Jamaica and was a graduate of Leland and Gray Seminary, Class of 1946. Following high school she worked for several years at the Holstein-Friesian Association and then became a stay at home mom. In 1969 she joined Vermont National Bank becoming supervisor of VNB's Newfane branch. She retired in 1990 following 29 dedicated years of service with the bank. Mrs. Wilson was a lifetime member of the Jamaica Community Church, was an active member of the Dummerston Ladies Sewing Group and held membership in the American Legion Auxiliary, Townshend Post. A devoted homemaker, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting and time shared with her family and friends. On October 10, 1947, in Manchester, VT, she was married to William A. Wilson, III. Her husband of 62 years predeceased her on June 27, 2010. She leaves: one son, Deane Wilson and wife Shelley of Newfane; two daughters, Emily Parker and husband Donald of Putney and Theresa Frank of Newfane; one brother, Stephen Clark and wife Alexa of Jamaica; seven grandchildren, Jeff Parker and wife Jennifer, John and Ezekiel Parker, Kaila, James, Geonna and Hannah Wilson; and one great grandson, Jahvon Parker. Additionally she is survived by her close personal friend, Beverly Landman of Jamaica, many nieces, nephews, several cousins and a host of friends. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be conducted on Monday at 10:00 A.M. at the Jamaica Community Church. Burial will follow the service in Woodland Cemetery in Newfane.
