Barbara J. Shumm, 90, of Ft. Wayne, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011. Born July 23, 1921 in Decatur, IN, Barb was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. She also had been a member of the Rosary Society and Beta Sigma Phi and enjoyed volunteering with different groups and organizations. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Steven) Smethers of Columbia City, IN; sister, Mary Catherine Hain of Decatur, IN; grandchildren, Mark (Kim) Gareiss, David (Jennifer) Gareiss and Kendra (Ehren) Siebert; and five great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by parents John and Ida Holthouse, husbands, Arthur Wilson and Walter Neuman; and brother, John Holthouse. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 am Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at St. Therese Catholic Church with calling one hour prior. Fr. Lawrence Teteh officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday at D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue. Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur, Indiana.
