Barbara J. Tomes Barbara J. Tomes, 67 of Medina, OH passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at Medina Hospital. She was born Nov. 9, 1944 in Lisbon, OH to John and Lillian Kelch Phillis. She grew up there before the family moved to Medina, where she graduated from Medina High School. She married Lyle Tomes on June 8, 1968, he survives. Barbara graduated from Kent State University with her degree in Secondary Education. She taught school in the Akron Public School System and later at Medina City Schools. She also substituted at Buckeye, Cloverleaf, Highland and Medina. Barbara taught Adult German Language courses at Medina County Career Center as well. She was a lifelong Christian and a devout member of the Medina Church of Christ. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. Surviving are: Husband, Lyle Daughters, Heidi (Ken) Imhoff of Akron Melanie (Jessie) Keene of Lodi Grandchildren, Barbara, Jonathan, Jayme, and Kathryn Sisters, Sandra (Gary) Diesch of Medina Colleen (Bob) Leedy of Medina Teresa (Chuck) Merkle of Medina Brother, John (Betsy) Phillis Jr. Nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 21, at 10:00 AM at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, (330-948-1122). Ministers Rodney Nulph and Jim Duty will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lodi. Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Medina Church of Christ, 295 Forest Meadows Drive, Medina, OH 44256. Online tributes may be left at www.parkerfuneralhomes.com .
