BARBARA LORRAINE SHORT
Mrs. Barbara Lorraine Short, age 83, of Raven, VA went to be with the Lord on Saturday August 27, 2011 at her home following an extended illness. Born at Russell County, VA she was the daughter of the late Charles & Melinda Stilwell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Short; daughter Rosie Lorraine Short; son Willard Short and grandsons Bradley Short & J.D. McGlothlin; one Sister Sally Cordle; three Brothers Elihue Stilwell; Dewey Stilwell & Clarence Stilwell. She was a member of Horton Ridge Church of God.
She is survived by Four daughters: Norma Keen & husband John of Claypool Hill, VA; Sue Newberry & husband Willie Rondal of Doran, VA; Patsy McGlothlin & husband Darnell of Honaker, VA & Leisa Shelor & husband David of Blacksburg, VA; Four sons: James Short & wife Sylvia of Raven, VA; Darrell Short & wife Judy of Raven, VA; Donald Short & wife Marcella of Raven, VA & Ricky Short & wife Karen of Raven, VA; One sister Mae Newberry of Road Ridge, VA; 11 Grandchildren: John Keen, Jr.; Brian Newberry; Eddie Short; Mark Short; Melinda Lambert; Amanda Wallace; Trey Shelor; Jacob Short; Chas Shelor; Nicholas Short & Rachel Huffman. 13 Great Grandchildren: Taylor Short; Kristian Short; Matthew Lambert; Kellie Wallace; Zachary Lambert; Johnathan Lambert; Christy Chafin; Russell Chafin; Chelsea Short; Adrianna Short; John Garrett Keen; Chloe Newberry & Brayden Newberry and several Nieces & Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday August 30, 2011 at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, VA with Rev. Dennis White & Rev. Farley Christian, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, VA. Grandsons & Grandsons in Law will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Great Grandsons. The Family will receive friends at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA from 6-9 P.M. Monday. Special thanks to Helping Hands Home Health and Helping Hands Hospice for their excellent care and also Teresa Vandyke. Singleton Funeral Service is serving the Short Family.
