Mrs. Barbara Lyles Elms, age 69, of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away December 24, 2011. Mrs. Elms was born in Macon, Georgia the daughter of the late Edith O'Berry Lyles and Ivy Henry Lyles. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Mildred, Marie, Helen and Ike Lyles. She was self employed and owned her own restaurant most of her working career. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking and doing for others. Survivors are her husband, Harold Elms of Locust Grove; children, Theresa Smith (Tony) of Douglasville, Sheila Crump of McDonough, Myra Carter of McDonough and Dennis Carter (Suzanne) of Hampton; grandchildren, Justin, Courtney, Skye, Chris, Dillon, Lindsey, and Sophia; siblings, Louise Sims, Myra Wilmot, Sara Lyles, and Jerry Lyles; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Mrs. Elms will be Monday, December 26, 2011 – 4:00 PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Carter officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the service. For those who wish, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice in her memory.
