Mrs. Beatrice L. (Ebersole) Freeman, 80, of 7891 Anthony Highway, Waynesboro, died Thursday evening, December 15, 2011, in her home. She had been in failing health for the past three years and critically ill for the past two weeks. Born February 5, 1931 in Greene Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late David L. and Jane C. (Wilson) Ebersole. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area, especially the areas of Quincy and Five Forks. She and her husband, the late Clarence D. "Sam" Freeman, Sr., were married on June 24, 1950 in Hagerstown, MD. They have lived at their present residence for over 40 years. Mr. Freeman died on March 29, 2006. Mrs. Freeman worked at various sewing factories in the area, including Connie's Sportswear and Austin Hill. She was later a child care provider for over 30 years. She was a member of Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro, the Ladies Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1758, Waynesboro, and the Mont Alto Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Freeman enjoyed playing bingo, working in her flower garden, working on crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. She is survived by six children, Samuel A. Freeman and his wife Debbie of Waynesboro, Mary Talbert and her husband Edward of Hagerstown, MD, J.R. Freeman of Waynesboro, Donna Freeman of Waynesboro, Becky Levick and her husband Tom of Waynesboro, and Kimberly Hite and her husband Terry of Waynesboro; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Susan McCardell of Greencastle, Patsy Collins of Zullinger, and Nancy Rowland of Jamestown, NC; three brothers, Robert "Bob" Ebersole of Waynesboro, Daniel Ebersole, Jr. of Smithsburg, MD, and Paul Ebersole of Rouzerville; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Donald E "Donny" Freeman, who died on January 22, 2011; two grandsons, Samuel Christopher Freeman, and Chad Thomas Levick; seven sisters, Florence "Flo" Nunemaker, Grace Benoist Zammito, Minnie Downin, Betty Smetzer, Gladys "Biney" Grooms, Dorothy Welsh Freeman, and Helen Ebersole; and three brothers, Edward "Bruz" Ebersole, Donald "Duck" Ebersole, and Charles "Billy" Ebersole. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 21, 2011, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Wilbur "Buck" Besecker, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday evening, in the funeral home.
