Benjamin Legaspi Galang was born on May 7, 1932 in Corrigidor Cavite Phillipines to his mother Encarnacion Alonzo Galang and father Leoncio Muldog Galang. Benjamin was the third born of twelve siblings: Lydia Castro, Gloria Galang, Ameila Gascon, Jamie Galang, Efren Galang, Ernesto Galang, Violeta DeGuzman, Josefina Rivera, Alicia DePadua, Cora Galang, and Arthur Galang.

Benjamin worked as a machinist for a Mining Company in the Philippines. He arrived to the States on April 13, 1976 and met Ednita Tinio a year later . They wed on October 15, 1978 and were blessed with their first child Bernard Galang on March 9, 1979. Benjamin worked as a dietary assistant at Mills Peninsula Hospital for ten years and in that time had his second child Bernadette Galang on January 22, 1985. Benjamin retired and moved to Dublin California with his family September 1994 where he lived out the rest of his life raising his two children with his wife.
