Bernard D. Shoemake, 86 passed January 24 in Lakeland, Florida. Born in Quincy, FL, he was a Plainfield resident for 50+ yrs. before moving to Florida 3 yrs. ago. Mr. Shoemake was a member of The Mt. Zion AME Church for 20+ yrs. where he served as a Steward. He was a truck driver for Joy Oil for 30 yrs. and worked for the City of Plainfield Recreation Dept. He was a US Marine Corp Veteran serving in WWII. He loved playing cards & dominoes. Predeceased by his wife Marvine and daughter Jacqueline, Mr. Shoemake leaves to cherish his memory his son, Bernard Jr.(Americus), daughter Brenda J McDonald (Isiah), nephew Wayne Sanders, special friend Lois Robinson, 7 grandchildren and a host of loving relatives & friends. Service: Saturday 10 AM Mt. Zion AME Church, 630 E. Front Street, Plainfield. Viewing, Friday, 5-7 PM Judkins Colonial Home.
