He was a waist gunner in a B-17, flying more than 25 missions with the 351st Heavy Bomber Group while stationed at Polebrook Airbase in England. He was awarded several medals including the Air Medal along with a triple cluster and the Silver Star Medal.
Bernie served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ. His greatest love was being a missionary. He shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all those with whom he came in contact. He was also an ordinance worker for 10 years in the Provo Utah Temple and the Mesa Arizona Temple.
He established and owned Bernie's Plumbing & Heating Company in Boulder, Colorado, and in Provo, Utah.
