Berta J. Agler

HARROD Berta J. Agler, 90, died at 2:50 p.m. July 2, 2012, at her residence. She was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Floyd County, Ky., to Bascom and Julie Shepherd Dotson, who preceded her in death. On June 7, 1943, she married Donald E. Agler, who died Dec. 2, 1998. Mrs. Agler was a homemaker. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revoution Auxiliary No. 19, and she enjoyed making quilts. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Larry (Mary Catherine) Agler, of Matthews, N.C., James (Jean) Agler, of Waverly, and Dale (Charlene) Agler, of Harrod; and a daughter, Patricia (Richard) White, of Lima; and 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. Graveside services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City. The Rev. James Leach will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Hospice.
