Bertha Mae Martin

Bertha Mae Martin, 92 of Mabscott went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 17, 2011.
Born February 26, 1919, she was the daughter of the late William and Lou Ellen Baldwin Sparks.
Bertha enjoyed working outdoors especially working with her flowers. She was self employed as a shoe shop owner and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, Bertha is preceded in death by her loving husband Burl R. Martin; son Bill Ray Martin; sisters Flora Martin, Martha Marcum, Sarah Sparks, Lucy Sparks, Katie Sparks; brothers John Sparks, Herb Sparks, Arch Sparks.
Those left to cherish her memory include sons, Robert L. Sparks and wife Mary of St. Albans, Burl L. Martin and wife Rosalyn of Mabscott; daughters, Betty E. Plumley and husband Carlos of Irish Mountain Road, Luella J. Meador and husband Mike of Ghent, Marie M. Martin of Mabscott; brothers Jonas Sparks of OH, Charlie Sparks of OH, George Sparks of MD; sisters Alberta Bowyer of Lewisburg, Nancy O'Brien of Ronceverte and Hattie Wimmer; 12 grandchildren,10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of Southern WV for all of their help and support.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 21, 2011 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Jesse Farley officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Grandsons and great-grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family Monday from 1 -2 PM at the funeral home.
