Patriotic Emblem

Williamsburg: Bertrand Henry Parkes, Jr. passed into eternal rest on May 15, 2012. Bert worked for the US Government for 27 years retiring in 1992. His assignments included Panama; Germany; the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.; and Forts Monroe and Eustis in Virginia. His penultimate assignment was as the Director of the US Army's Computer School in Munich, Germany from 1986 – 1991. Bert established his own company after retirement, Enfield Enterprises, and enjoyed his work and travels buying Russian art. He loved meeting people and has extended family all over the world. Bert was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Bertrand Henry Sr., and Kathleen Jenkins "Miss Kitty" Parkes.
His caring family surviving him includes:
Daughters: Christina Parkes Major and husband Aaron of Midlothian, VA
Caroline Ortiz Parkes and husband John Bates of Bealeton, VA
Brothers: Richard K. Parkes of Williamsburg, VA
Ralph L. Parkes and wife Edie of Ware Neck, VA
Albert George Parkes of Gloucester, VA
Grandchildren: Xavier, Damian, Gavin, Téa and Grant
A Celebration of Life service officiated by Reverend Arthur L. Wolz, Jr. will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1860 Hayes Road. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, May 18, 2012 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
