Beth P.Carter
1927 – 2010
On August 16, 2010, Beth P. Carter passed peacefully into the loving arms of her husband, Arden, who preceded her in death May 26, 2010. She was born March 14, 1927 in Escalante, Utah to Fay and Elizabeth Gleave Porter and married Kelso Arden Carter on November 29, 1946 in Provo, Utah where they resided until moving to Salt Lake City in 1953.
She graduated from Provo High School in 1945 and was a member of the LDS church where she served in the Primary and Young Women organizations as a teacher.
During their 63 year marriage, Beth and Arden traveled extensively throughout the US and many foreign countries. She loved to take photographs and cataloged their countless adventures and parties with family and friends. She enjoyed camping trips in their travel trailer and was always known to catch the most and biggest fish! She and Arden were members of the ’53 Dance Club and loved dancing and socializing with friends. Beth made a wonderful home for her family and loved to entertain in their beautiful mountain cabin and home in Yuma, AZ. She loved to laugh and found humor in any situation; she will be missed by all who knew her.
Survived by daughters, Kathryn Carter, Laurie (David) Gleason, grandchildren Kirk Thurgood and Marissa (John) Skiby and great-grandchildren Tilly, Morgan and Cameron. Also survived by sister, Carol (Bob) Warnick and brother Dale (Sue) Porter.
The family would like to extend special thanks and love to the staff at the Canyon Creek Care Assisted Living and CNS Hospice for their wonderful care and assistance to our family. We would also like to extend our love and appreciation to Beth’s “adopted” daughters Connie and Keri whom she loved so much.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 19th, 2010 at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 So. Highland Drive. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 18th from 6-8 pm at the mortuary as well as one hour prior to services. Interment: Mountain View Memorial Park.
