BETHANY L. DOLAN, died September 5, 2012 at age 26. Bethany left us way too early, way too young – but, having done so much for those who knew her. Bethany has always been one of those people you loved to meet. Her genuine interest in you and her heart-melting smile created a phone book full of friends and acquaintances. Her Facebook friends number in the thousands and she would be able to tell you where she met each and every one of you and why you were so nice. Soccer player, swimmer, Lahser Dame, Homecoming Court. She had it all. She was generous with her time and with her love. If you needed her, she was always there. If there was something – anything – she could help you with, it was given with no expectation of return. Reading friends' recent posts on her Facebook page the past couple days confirms our picture of Bethany as a loving, caring, smiling, laughing, helpful and sincere young lady. Lots of posts repeat the words charisma, love, enthusiasm, optimism, beautiful inside and out. Bethany would tell you that she marched to a different drummer. She would also tell you, however, that she was actually the drummer in question and that she knew exactly what she was playing. She would tell you what she was going to do, how she was going to do it and why I did not need to be concerned with the details. Bethany has lived in California, Arizona, Iowa and Michigan. She was preparing to move to Florida. She gained new friends easily and quickly – and never lost track of those whose lives she had touched. While living in Phoenix, she adopted an alternative phrase for saying "good bye". Whether on the phone or in person, as each of you might say "good bye", she would say "Love you". If she had just met you or had known you all of her life, it would be "love you". It never failed – it was habit – it was ingrained – "love you". When Bethany was travelling or away from home, she would miss her mom so very much. They talked everyday on the phone, but when away, she would remind Liz that they were looking at the same moon. You are an angel, Bethany. Take the love you have for helping others and shine in heaven – know that you will be missed each and every minute of each and every day, for the rest of our lives! We're looking at the same moon, honey – love you! Bethany is the dear daughter of T. Michael and Elizabeth Dolan; the loving sister of Jeff Dolan (Kristi); the granddaughter of Violet Lentz; and the niece of Philip Dolan, Rex M. Lentz (Gail), Tim Lentz (Diana) and Laurie Davis (Rob). Bethany is also survived by numerous cousins and friends. The Funeral Service will be on Monday, September 10, 2012 - 11 a.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy (between Maple and Big Beaver), with The Rev. George Portice officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 9, from 2-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment White Chapel Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to: Michigan Humane Society.
