Farmville, NC- Betsey Lewis Yerry, 93, of Farmville, NC died on November 4, 2010. She was born in Burlington, VT on April 29, 1917 and lived in Hyde Park, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL prior to moving to Farmville.
Mrs. Yerry was the widow of Lawrence H. (Larry) Lewis, former Director of Physical Education at F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park from 1941 to 1962, when he died at the age of 46. Her second husband, Ray Yerry, former Superintendant of Buildings and Grounds for the Arlington School District, passed away in March, 1978.
She is survived by her twin sister, Wendy Watson of Columbus, GA; sons, Rick Lewis and wife, Barbara, of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Lawrence H. (Larry) Lewis, Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Farmville, NC; grandchildren, Kim Coppola and husband, John, of Cumming, GA., Keith Lewis and wife, Theresa, of Walden, NY, Derek Lewis of Poughkeepsie, NY, Patrick Lewis of Asheville, NC, Sarah Lewis of San Francisco, CA; and five great grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service and burial will take place at 10am, Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Union Cemetery, Rte. 9G, Hyde Park.
Local arrangements are by Sweet’s Funeral Home, Inc., Hyde Park.
