Betty Jane Brown, 86, of Burlington, went to be with Jesus at 6:47 AM, Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born on December 1, 1924 in Burlington, she was the youngest of 13 children born to Thomas William and Clara Emily Wolverton Brown. She married Wayne Leslie Brown of LaHarpe, IL on April 1, 1945 in Burlington.

Betty was a homemaker dedicating her time to taking care of her family and home that her and Wayne built in 1974 with the help of family and friends.

She was a 1942 graduate of Burlington High School.  She enjoyed being with her family, and spending quality time with all of her grandchildren. In years past she and Wayne spent many good times traveling and camping with their many beloved friends and family. Often the highlight of her day was to relax with a good cup of tea with honey, a crossword puzzle or staying in touch with everyone on the internet.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Brown; one daughter Nancy Shahsavari; two grandsons, Charles Conn and wife Becky, Gary Conn and wife Kimanda; seven great-grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Hannah, Daniel, Katie, McKenzie and Abigail Conn all of Oklahoma; two brothers, Harold Brown and wife Virgie of Burlington, and Thomas Brown and wife Karen of Lubbock, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Paul Brown, Earl Brown and Ralph Brown, seven sisters, Effie Stephenson, Ruth Koester, Dorothy Watkins, Helen Cosgrove, and Hazel Brown, and infant twins.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mrs. Brown will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 28, 2011, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Dean Graber officiating.  Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.  A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Hass-Thielen community room following the interment.

A memorial has been established for the American Diabetes Association.
