Well known local quilter, Betty E. Jannausch, 87, formerly of Sugar Loaf Avenue, Marquette, passed away Saturday morning, August 6, 2011 at the Norlite Nursing Center with her loving family at her side. Betty was born on February 27, 1924 in Marquette to the late William and Lillian (Basal) Koval. She was married to James E. Jannausch on September 21, 1943 at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette and he preceded her in death on August 6, 2000. She was employed for 19 years in the cafeteria at Marquette Senior High School retiring in 1983. Betty was a member of the Marquette County Quilters Association and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Marquette. She is survived by five children, Bill (Ulrike) Jannausch of Valparaiso, IN, Kathy (Ron) Gobert of Marquette, Jim Jannausch of Charlevoix, MI, Mike (Judy) Jannausch of Clallam Bay, WA and Mary (Eric) Jannausch-Zemper of Ann Arbor; six grandchildren, Melissa Murphy, Bill Jannausch II, Adam Jannausch, Matthew Jannausch, Katie Bruce and Laura Jannausch; five great grandchildren, Megan and Deven Murphy, Kylee, Taylor and Ty Jannausch; also many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents and her loving husband were two sisters, Laura Parent and Lenore Parent; also two brothers, Harold Specker and John Koval. Visitation will take place at St. Michael Catholic Church on Tuesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 5 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Larry VanDamme officiating. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery immediately following Mass. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are welcome to do so. Memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38125 in Betty's memory.
