HOLBROOK, Betty Jane – formerly of Fosters, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Heartland Nursing Care. She was 90 years of age.
Betty J. Corbin was born in Carrollton May 29, 1923 to the late George and Mary (Micks) Corbin. She was married to Glenn J. Holbrook Sr. on May 17, 1941 at St. John The Baptist Church in Carrollton. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1996. Betty was a member of Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Bridgeport. She was a proud member of TOPS # 0843 in Saginaw having joined in 1969.
Surviving are: 3 sons, Glenn J. (Mary) Holbrook of Sanford, Thomas W. Holbrook of Saginaw, Edward D. Holbrook of Fosters; son-in-law, Neil Peters of Burt; also raised as her own daughter, niece Kathy Naylor of TN; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren. Betty was also preceded in death by: daughters, Susan Ann Peters and Diane Marie Massey; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Bridgeport. Fr. Thomas McNamara officiating. Interment will be at Cook Cemetery. Visitation will be at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run on Friday from 12-3 and 5-7PM where a Vigil service will be held at 7 PM. She will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until time of Mass at 11 AM. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Saints Francis and Clare Catholic Church or the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Heartland's staff and all employees for the wonderful care and love they gave our mother and for the past 2 ½ years. Also, to Dr. Kahn for his medical expertise and always having the time to answer our concerns no matter how busy he was.
