Betty Jane (Janie) Brown Stalnaker
May 11, 1944 - February 4, 2012
Ms. Janie Stalnaker, 67, resident of Huntsville, Alabama died on Saturday, February 4, 2012 after an extended battle with brain cancer. Janie was born in Kingsley, Iowa on May 11, 1944 to Morey and Betty Ruth Brown and raised in Correctionville, Iowa where she was a member of the Church of Christ. She graduated from Correctionville High School in 1962 and attended nursing school at Methodist Hospital in Sioux City, IA. Janie began her career as a nurse at Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville, AL in 1976. She then worked with Dr. Thomas Griggs for many years until he retired. She finished her career with the Surgery Center of Huntsville after many years of service. Janie was preceded in death by her husband Elden Gene Stalnaker, her parents Morey and Betty Ruth Brown, and her step-mother Wilma Brown. Survivors include her son Chad Hester and his wife Angie; three grandchildren - Ashley, 16, Josie, 10 and Kylee Hester, 5; step-son Randy Stalnaker and his wife Cindy; brother, Larry Brown and his wife Diane; nephew, Bobby Brown and niece, Nancy Hartung. Visitation will be from 5:00pm till 7:00pm on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Valhalla Funeral Home, immediately followed by the 7:00pm memorial service in the funeral home chapel with Harris Cook officiating.
