Betty King, 86, of Mission, Kansas, died Monday, September 22, 2008 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be at 2 pm, Friday, September 26, 2008 at Southridge Presbyterian Church, 5015 Buena Vista, Roeland Park, KS. Memorial donations are suggested to an envirornmental cause of your choice, Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, KCMO 64137 or Animal Haven, 9800 W. 67th St., Shawnee, KS 66203.
Betty was born July 4, 1922, in Kansas City, Missouri to Charles and Leva Braun. She graduated from Central High School in 1939 and was a lifelong resident of Kansas City. She married William King in 1942 and they were happily married for 54 years until his death in 1997. Betty worked for Kansas City Power and Light, Hudson Oil and Shawnee Mission School District. Betty and William were KC Zoo Docents and taught in Zoo School for many years. They enjoyed traveling and playing bridge. Betty was active in her church, serving as a deacon and an elder.
Betty is survived by two sons, Fred (Yolanda) King, Falls Church, VA and Richard King, Greenwood Village, CO and four grandchildren.
Betty will be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness to everyone she knew.
